PROJECT: Uber Neighborhood Love
ROLE: Marketing Manager

Background:
Before ridesharing existed, thousands of Portlanders were asked to rally for innovation, calling upon city leaders to make fundamental changes to transportation regulations that allowed ridesharing to coexist.

Challenge:
After months of petitions, personal meetings and twitter townhalls, ridesharing was finally a part of daily life. After asking so much of our riders for several months, it was time to show our appreciation for them, as well as celebrate the city we can now call home.

Strategy:
To celebrate Portland’s small business climate and incentivize Portlanders to explore new areas of their city, we offered free UberX rides to select neighborhoods from June to Sept. To sweeten the deal, we partnered with local businesses to offer unique incentives that would drive foot traffic into their shop.

THE CAMPAIGN

The campaign featured 3 up-and-coming neighborhoods that faced unique challenges that made transportation options necessary. Rather than offer discounts, we focused on experiences that riders could "unlock" with their ride receipt.

THE RESULTS

The campaign was one of the most successful Neighborhood campaigns in Uber history. With over 10,000 riders takings advantage of the promotion, our content was a huge hit.
